Pioneer in sustainability – the Germany Travel MartTM of the German National Tourist Board

The annual Germany Travel Mart – GTMTM – is the largest incoming trade fair for Germany as a travel destination. As the organizer, the German National Tourist Board aims to use the GTMTM as a role model for sustainable event management. For over 10 years, it has been implementing many measures to constantly improve. For the second time in a row, we have been able to support the GNTB in this endeavor.

How can the sustainability management of an event, that has been on the road for a long time, be improved?

Together with the GNTB and its partners, we are taking the GTMTM to a new level in terms of sustainability. To this end, fields of action and optimization potential are identified based on a detailed analysis.

 

By setting clear KPIs, preparatory measures are taken to achieve ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management in the medium term.

 

Following the materiality analysis carried out together with the customer, all identified key areas of action were analyzed in detail. The process is supplemented by stakeholder interviews, on-site analyses and the measurement of the carbon footprint using our in-house tracker, the “Green Game Carbon Scorecard”.

 

The result: a clear roadmap with many measures to achieve the planned ISO 20121 certification.
